Has Linux Truly Come Of Age?

February 28th, 2009

In truth, Linus Torvalds was quite simply unwilling to name his new operating system Linux - he believed that it was arrogant. At this point, work on the GNU Project, a project making an attempt to write a free Unix-compatible operating system, had been under way for almost ten years but Torvalds was unwilling to wait any longer. In 1992, a mere year after Linux was released, it was announced “obsolete” by the creator of MINIX, Andrew Tanenbaum. He cited its lack of portability and its ties to specific hardware as the main reasons that Linux would die out in the next couple of years.

With the release of the GNU project, Tanenbaum was shown to be completely wrong. Collaborating
with GNU developers, Torvalds combined the code into his program and made a fully-functional, portable operating system. Best of all, it was free and the code open-source.

Over time, programmers have created a number of implementations based entirely on the Linux kernel. The most popular home distributions, Debian, GNOME and KDE all work a little differently, yet all supply a graphical user interface on top of the shell. This means that users can go about their daily business without ever having to have anything to do with the command-line.

In 1994, the first commercial Linux company, Red Hat, was launched and was the first Linux distribution to employ a package manager. In bundling a few software options with the distribution, Red Hat gave users a simple way to install the required software. With the code for the Linux kernel openly available for programmers to change and build on, it provides a world of possibilities. End-users who wish to have the freedom to work in a command-line environment now have an operating system with which to work and those preferring a graphical interface can build on the kernel to form one. Its cost-effectiveness and durability has made it entirely viable to be used as an operating system for servers.

Linux as a server operating system has proved a perfect contender for web site hosting and has proved a thoroughly credible
platform for the growing web site design industry. In an environment where unreliability is not at all popular Linux is in very many cases seen as the platform of choice. On the desktop in offices, schools and factories the wide availability of software has led to wide-spread uptake. Municipalities the world over are making significant savings by employing Linux on their computer network over their substantial user base. Without a doubt, Linux has truly come of age.

Men and Yeast Infection

February 28th, 2009

For many men yeast infection happens when the way they eat and live makes their bodies perfect hosts for the yeast bacteria. These then multiply way beyond their limits, and start to take over your body.

It is also known as candidiasis because the infection is caused by Candida fungus which is normally present in our body but imbalance in the body system allows Candida to grow out of control and leads to yeast infection. Infection may occur in moist areas of the body like the mouth and genital area which are the perfect home for the fungus.

Friendly bacteria that are present in the digestive tract keep Candida at low levels by feeding on the yeast. These friendly bacteria are killed by antibiotics, cortisone and chemotherapy, etc.

Men who are uncircumcised are at a greater risk of having a yeast infection because the skin folds of the foreskin are hard to keep clean, are moist, and can become a breeding ground for fungus. Also, men who are diabetic or have a disease or illness that lowers the immune system are also more at risk for contracting a yeast infection.

It is possible for men to get a yeast infection from sexual intercourse, but this doesn’t mean it is a sexually transmitted disease.

For some men yeast infection symptoms are similar to those in women: itching, irritation, slight discharge, sores on the foreskin, pain during sexual intercourse, and appearance of a white cheese-like material. Physically, it can cause dryness and itching of the skin. It can also cause digestive disorders and constipation.

The type of treatment you need, will depend on the type of yeast infection you have, although natural remedies have proven to very beneficial. Garlic, yogurt, tea tree oil, oregano oil, aloe vera and other home remedies have proven to be effective for men with yeast infection.

Medications may temporarily get rid of the symptoms and offer short-term relief, but the root cause of the problem, the yeast spores, remains and inevitably will lead to future outbreaks. If you find that the over the counter medications aren’t working or that your yeast infection is recurring you may need more effective treatment that only a doctor can prescribe.

Whilst you are treating men yeast infection, it is advisable to use a water soluble lubricating gel during sex and always wear condoms too, to avoid passing the infection onto your partner.

How to best use your autoresponder for your email marketing campaigns.

February 27th, 2009

Studies show a potential visitor will take seven to nine messages before s/he becomes comfortable with you and eventually contacts or preferably buys your products or services. If you are left with only one marketing tool, what would you retain? Most marketers would say autoresponders or their email list. This tells you how serious you should treat your email marketing effort AND your autoresponder tool.

What is an autoresponder? An email autoresponder allows you to follow up your potential customers at a predefined timeframe automatically through emails. You may acquire this functionality by installing a script on your webhosting or you can acquire this function through third party autoresponder service providers Is your email autoresponder working as effectively as designed? What criteria should you consider when it comes to picking an email autoResponder? What is the single most important criteria when choosing your autoresponder service?

Three criteria you should consider before you invest your hard-earned cash in this vital marketing tool. A great deliverability is the most sought-after feature of any email autoresponder. Any internet user would receive tons of SPAM mails in their mail-box each day. If you use Gmail, you should be familiar with the screen shot below. There are 2808 spam emails in my Gmail account as at the time of writing. I will never read these emails. If you use some poor autoresponder service, your emails will automatically be streamed into these SPAM folders. You may ask, “What determines which email go to “SPAM” folder?” Unless you are gmail.com, you don’t know their “way of thinking”.

But definitedly you don’t want to be the one who emails the optins to their SPAM folder. But what is the main cause for your emails not being able to reach your targetted prospects or subscribers? There are many reasons why it is the case, but by far the most important reason is this: Is your autoresponder a self hosted script OR third party autoresponder service? As mentioned, you acquire your autoresponder function either by the script you hosted on your website or you may build your list and your autoresponder through a third party service provider. The mission of a third party autoresponder service providers is to deliver your emails. Why do I not recommend a self-hosted script which you can install onto your webhost?

The reason is one word: “SPAM”. Some of your subscribers will report you as SPAM, no matter how diligent and sincere you are with your email marketing campaigns. People just forget they sign up on your list. They will report your emails as SPAMs some day down the road. It’s just a matter of “when”, not “If”. When subscribers report your emails as spams, their internet service provider (ISP) may blacklist your future emails. This blocks your emails getting into their inbox in the future. I have previously used a hosted service, which had good results initially (for about 6 months). After a few of my ex-subscribers complaint me spamming them, my emails are not as effective as before. Treat email autoresponders service companies eat and breath on deliverability.

They ensure your emails get delivered. Some autoresponder service us claiming that it delivers 99.34%, meaning it their readers get 99 emails out of 100 emails! There are some free autoresponder services out there. I urge you not to waste your time finding or even trying one. Why? I have used those services and only found myself promoting someone!|s else services. Those free services basically send out your emails with their own embedded advertising. Your readers will read their ads first before your messages. If you are not serious about your business, use free autoresponsers. Price should be the least concern, as autoresponder is your lifeblood of your viral traffic. Usually a quality autoresponder costs around $20 a month.

Feline Questions and Responses on Cat Training and Cat Behavior

February 27th, 2009

Q: Can cat behavior be modified by training?

A: Yes, training a cat is not as hard as most folks think it is. Cats most likely are not as amenable to training as Spot or Champ are but they can be trained. Tasty treats given as positive reinforcement is most likely the main way to successful cat training.

Q: Why and how do kitties purr?

A: Adult cats purr because they are happy and contented and to manipulate humans — Who can ignore a purring kitty? Kittens purr in response to their mother cat’s purr to assist in bonding them. It is widely believed that the purring is a vibration of the voice box as air is pushed though it. It is also believed that purring is a voluntary action.

Q: What makes certain individuals are allergic to cats?

A: Cat allergies are caused by the proteins in cat dander generated from the cat’s saliva. The dander dries and becomes airborne. People with cat allergies develop a reaction because their immune system is attempting to attack the foreign protein and creates histamines.

Q: How do you curtail naughty cat behavior like nipping?

A: The best way to break unwanted cat behavior is the same way the mother cat controls an errant kitten. This is by scuffing the cat. You firmly but gently grasp the cat by the scruff of the neck and hold it down until it calms down. You must do this at the time of the naughty behavior.

Q: How do you litter train a cat?

A: You really shouldn’t have to do any training for a cat to use a litter box, but if your adult cat has begun to avoid the litter box you need to find out why. The cat may have a urinary tract infection in which case you need to visit the veterinarian. If it is just too dirty you need to keep it cleaner. If you have started using litter you may have to change back or sprinkle a little catnip in the litter to attract the cat to the new litter.

Q: How do you keep cats off the kitchen table?

A: This is the most asked about cat behavior issues and can be a challenging one. Cats like elevated places and they can find food or food odors on counters and tables. It is best to keep the surfaces clean and to use something like foil or double sided tape to keep cats off the counters.

Find online golf instruction that fits you

February 27th, 2009

Get your own golf swing plan that will help you focus and pinpoint your problem areas and lower your handicap. The best investment you could probably make would be to get a online golf lesson from a good golf professional. The sooner people get professional instruction the better their golf will be, simply because they won’t need to relearn the correct techniques to replace bad habits. Golf is all about fine tuning and making small improvements that compound over the course of a round to sometimes quite dramatically reduce your score and handicap.

Imagine the benefit of becoming more proficient with the use of your putter where it helps to save a shot every few holes. At the end of the round, that could be the difference between a score in the 80’s and dropping into the 70’s.Imagine knowing that should you get in the rough you will be able to chip out and set yourself up for a better approach. Having the confidence to play from anywhere on the course will also make the game more enjoyable and this only comes from experience and good pro golf instruction online.

There is no faster way to gain experience than through the help of golf lessons on line from a professional. They will be able to determine the flaw’s in your game and swing and correct any errors in your swing that you wouldn’t be able to target on your own. You might be only be a fraction of an inch away from setting your balls up in the right position or your hand placement on the club might be slightly ill placed to get the correct movement.

A well-trained golfer will do more with a poor set of golf clubs than an inexperienced player with the best clubs in the world. It is wise to get some good golf lessons first and then you might just find that you will be ready for a better set of clubs as your experience has risen to the next level. Golf lessons are a very wise investment if you intend to play for any length of time.

Economy Stimulus Booster, well sort of?

February 26th, 2009

Ok, well as we’ve all been hearing: The Economy is in the dumper these days.

Why? Well there’s lots of reasons for it but really, in the words of Tony Soprano, ‘Whatta Ya Gonna Do?’

Well it’s simple, in order to make money to pay for your bills, a night out with your partner, a movie, a new bike tire, a gas saving scooter or whatever you may need to pay for you need an income source!

Hold on there ‘Ad King’ you’re saying right now, I just got laid off or took a pay cut but kept my job. What the heck are you talking about? Are you suggesting I get yet another job?

Nope, I’m not saying that all. But I am saying that there is a very easy way to make a little extra cash, or maybe alot in these bad economic times. Here’s my tip on how to make money on the internet. Sell your used stuff online! That’s it. I’m talking about placing free classified ads to sell your used item’s fast online.

Selling your old treasures is a great to make some extra cash. In fact, some of our posters are even making a steady living by selling used stuff at usedad.com right now. Here’s just a few things that people are buying from ads being posted to help you get started.

1. Appliances: if you have a spare fridge or mini freezer, a toaster oven, a microwave, an older tv or stereo, kitchen items

2. Autos: got a car or motorbike or even an boat that’s siting around collecting dust? Take a pic of it and post it on usedad.com! Seriously, you’ll be surprised that people will actually buy these kinds of things from you. I personally just sold my little yamaha bws 50 scooter, got top dollar for it, and then turned that around and bought a used honda big ruckus. It’s a scooter but has a bit bigger engine. Yes, it’s still fuel efficient, it’s a 4 stroke!

3. Clothing: yes, your old clothing can fetch top dollar. People love buying clothes and love getting a deal on clothing. I’m not sure if you’ve seen the price of suits or designer jeans lately but they are sooo expensive in the stores. Just look at the clothing and accessories section we have and you’ll find some awesome deals on some really nice clothes, shoes, boots, purses, handbags, cargo pants whatever!

Thats enough for now. Time for me to see what’s been posted recently at usedad.com

Now, please take my advice, grab a few items from your house, take a pic, post an ad with a good description and make some money and kick this dumpy economy into overdrive!

10 tips on Pro Active Skin Care

February 26th, 2009

The Skin reflects you and your health. A dry skin or a strong body odor actually reflects toxins inside the body. Thus skin care involves both inside and outside treatment. Here are 10 tips on pro active skin care.
With age skin loses its elasticity and its natural oils. Thus it becomes dry and brittle. With a little care and pampering you can get back the young look of skin.

•    Soaps rob the natural oils of the skin. So use mild soaps like Pears or Dove.
•    Try avoiding the sun between 10 to 4 P.M as the ultra violet rays during this time is intense and may cause skin problems.
•    Be well hydrated. Water flushes out the toxins of the body and makes your skin glow.
•    To keep skin wrinkle free, antioxidants play a major role. Daily use of herbs like goose berries, vitamin C, A and E all slow the aging process.
•     Massaging helps a lot. Regular massage helps skin to look toned and young. Use oils for massaging.
•    Do not take bath in hot water. Use mild warm water and do not shower or bath for more than 15-20 minutes as this too robs the natural oils of the skin.
•    Daily exercise is very important. Without exercise body is unable to expel the toxins. Exercise also refreshes and makes you more energetic.
•    Meditate or set some time for relaxation which is very much necessary for a proper balance of the body. A very active life style without adequate relaxation is disastrous. Similarly get your beauty sleep of 8 hours per day.
•    Avoid smoking as smoking can deprive skin of oxygen and nutrients and damage skin’s elasticity.
•    When going out in the sun wear protective clothing and a sun screen lotion.

Acne Care

If getting rid of acne is what you are interested in, you might want to take a look at Pro Active acne control products. You might also want to consider acupuncture for acne and herbal acne remedies.

Remember skin is an organ of elimination and many toxins leave the body through the skin. Keep it supple by proper diet and exercises rather than external treatments alone.
